Yo has lead music in St Mary’s Church, Bramall Lane since 2000, before her children were born, training with Sheffield Diocese in 2008 (inaugural Worship4Today course).

She loves enabling other singers and instrumentalists of all ages and abilities to lead the church in Sunday worship

The congregation at St Mary’s Bramall Lane is made up of at least 12 nationalities and Yo enjoys learning from others and teaching songs in different languages including Swahili, Igbo, Yaruba, French, Latin and some sign language

Yo has introduced the church to new songs from the Iona Community/Wild Goose, Fischy Music, Taize, Bernadette Farrell, Tim Pooley and others

Yo often sings solo in church, at weddings and funerals and enjoyed her BBC Radio 4 solo when St Mary’s lead the morning service!

She builds confidence amongst others in the church to solo sing, if this is something they would like to do, as well as leading church members to sing in 4 part harmony for special Christmas services

Yo sang with the band ‘Outcry’ at their formation and has brought many other musicians to perform at St Mary’s including Phillipa Hannah and Dave Bilborough
